The model of the establishment of an academic and research network of Bosnia and Herzegovina that the University Tele-Informatics Centre - UTIC and the Centre for Information Technologies - SUMIT will send to the Rectors' Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina was one of the topics of the meeting of the director of the University Tele-Informatics Centre - UTIC, Prof Elmedin Selmanović, PhD, and Tomislav Volarić, PhD, Assistant Rector for Information Technologies and Innovations of the University of Mostar.

The establishment of the academic and research network NREN would enable the academic community to access information, services, and resources at the national, international, and global levels. It means that the academic community can access information and services in all European countries. It also allows the academic community to easily join international research projects, collaborating with researchers from other countries.

They discussed other projects, especially cooperation on projects of digital transformation of education, and considered the possibility of cooperation in the establishment of educational information systems.

Academic electronic identity is one of the technical prerequisites that will enable better connections between higher education institutions. Academic Electronic Identity (AEI) is a unique identifier used to identify academic persons and their academic activities. AEI is used to identify academic persons and their academic activities, such as research, education, collaboration, and information exchange.

The representatives considered cooperation between UTIC and SUMIT on domestic and international projects, which would realize the significant potential of these two IT centres.
