The University of Mostar has signed a new cooperation agreement with one of the most prestigious public universities in Brazil, the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). The signing took place in Recife, as part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation and expand the University of Mostar's partnerships beyond the European area. The agreement was signed on behalf of the University of Mostar by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Zoran Tomić.
This agreement opens up new opportunities for collaboration in the fields of student and faculty exchange, joint scientific research projects, as well as the organization of conferences, workshops, and other academic events. Special emphasis has been placed on the exchange of knowledge and experience and on enhancing the teaching and research capacities of both institutions. The cooperation also aims to develop joint academic programs, thereby further improving the quality of education and the international recognition of the University of Mostar.
UNICAMP, founded in 1962 in the state of São Paulo, is one of the most important research universities in Latin America. It is known for its high level of scientific output, international projects, and the active involvement of students in research work.
The agreement was signed during the XVIII General Assembly and XV International Seminar of the Group of Brazilian Cooperation Universities (GCUB), held from September 30 to October 3 in Recife, in partnership with the Federal University of Pernambuco. This year’s event is dedicated to the theme "Democracy, Geopolitics and International University Cooperation: Building Bridges for Peace and Global Sustainability."
The General Assembly and International Seminar gathered representatives of higher education institutions, diplomats, international organizations, and government officials from around thirty countries across five continents, with the aim of promoting global academic cooperation, dialogue, and understanding.
This partnership represents another important step in the University of Mostar’s strategic commitment to greater involvement in global academic flows and confirms its status as a modern, open, and internationally-oriented institution of higher education.
