University of Mostar and University of Nagano from Japan Held First Online Meeting, Opening a New Initiative for International Academic Cooperation

The University of Mostar and the University of Nagano in Japan held their first online meeting, marking the beginning of a new initiative in international academic cooperation. This initiative is the result of mediation by the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Tokyo, thanks to the efforts of H.E. Ambassador Mato Zeko, who facilitated the connection between the two higher education institutions.

Representing the University of Mostar at the meeting were Prof. Dr. Sanja Bijakšić, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and Inja Stojkić, Head of the Office for International Cooperation. From the University of Nagano, the meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ryohei Nakagawa.

The meeting focused on establishing institutional cooperation, with an emphasis on student and academic staff exchange. It was agreed to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the future partnership and open opportunities for joint activities such as mobility programs, scientific projects, and academic networking.

The representatives of the University of Nagano expressed interest in cooperation with European institutions and particularly emphasized the openness and developmental orientation of the University of Mostar.

This meeting represents a first step toward establishing bilateral cooperation and confirms the University of Mostar’s commitment to expanding international partnerships, including those with higher education institutions in Japan.
