The University of Mostar signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Marburg (Philipps-Universität Marburg) with the aim of improving friendship and strengthening existing partnership relations. The agreement related to inter-university cooperation was signed by the SUM vice-rector for international relations, Prof Sanja Bijakšić, PhD, and vice-rector for culture and quality of the University of Marburg Prof Evelyn Korn, PhD.
The international partnership between the University of Mostar and the University of Marburg was realized for the first time as part of the signed memorandum of understanding for the European University for Peace, Justice and Inclusive Societies (MoU for the European University for Peace, Justice and Inclusive Societies) with eight other European universities. Also, SUM and the University of Marburg work together as part of the EUPeace project, and by signing today's agreement, which refers to inter-university cooperation, partnership and previous activities, they will continue to strengthen joint action for the benefit of both institutions.
Cooperation will be implemented through activities such as institutional exchange of teachers, technical and administrative staff and students, development of new study programs, joint research, cultural programs and conferences and other activities of mutual interest.
The University of Marburg is the university with the longest tradition in the German state of Hessen. It was founded in 1527 and offers excellent teaching programs in a total of 16 departments for more than 22,000 students. Also, the University of Marburg, with as many as thirteen Leibniz Prizes, which are awarded to outstanding scientists and academics for outstanding achievements in the field of research, is today considered one of the leading research institutions in the Hessen region.
