The University of Mostar will soon become part of the GÉANT academic and research network, thanks to the partnership between JP HT Eronet, CARNET, and SUMIT. A key meeting on that topic was dedicated to establishing a peering relationship with GÉANT and including the University in this prestigious network. Bojan Schmidt, Goran Škvarč and Ivan Tolić from CARNET, Ivan Krasić and Ivo Rozić from HT Eronet, and Mario Ćorić and Franjo Vučić from SUMIT attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the technical and organizational elements were defined. HT Eronet and CARNET provide the University with support in achieving this goal, which will open numerous opportunities for students, professors, and researchers. Including the University of Mostar in the GÉANT network will bring many advantages to the university community and society. Some of the main advantages are:

- Providing faster and more reliable access to international research resources, enabling students and faculty to participate in global research projects and exchange knowledge with other universities.

- Improving cooperation between universities and research institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the region and Europe.

- Increasing the competitiveness of the University of Mostar at the international level, which will attract more international students, professors, and researchers.

- Encouraging innovation and technology development will contribute to the local economy and create new jobs.

In the coming period, the University of Mostar will work on improving the quality of the network infrastructure at all organizational units to ensure the technical prerequisites for achieving this goal. After a successful meeting, the following steps regarding including the University of Mostar in RIPE and GEANT were agreed upon. Realizing this ambitious project is expected soon, which will significantly improve the region's educational sector and research capacities.

The University of Mostar recognizes the importance of continuously modernizing its infrastructure and developing its research and educational capacities to maintain its competitive advantage. Therefore, inclusion in the GÉANT network and cooperation with HT Eronet and CARNET are key factors in achieving this goal.

By joining the GÉANT network, students and professors of the University of Mostar will be able to use advanced communication and collaboration tools and gain access to top research resources and publications. In addition, joining this network will facilitate the exchange of experience, knowledge, and information with other academic institutions, encouraging the development of new projects and partnerships.
