Renowned scientist and professor Catheryn Khoo from Torrens University Australia visited the University of Mostar, where she delivered a lecture titled “Sustainable Academic Productivity.”
Professor Khoo, ranked among the top 1% of tourism researchers globally according to the prestigious Stanford University list, inspired the academic community with her presentation to reflect on contemporary challenges in academic careers. The main objectives of the workshop were to identify obstacles in academic work, apply strategies for sustainable productivity, manage stress more effectively, and establish clear professional priorities. Special emphasis was also placed on the importance of international cooperation and inter-institutional networking.
Prior to the lecture, a working meeting was held at the Rectorate of the University of Mostar, focusing on the development of international collaboration and the implementation of sustainable development principles at the University. During the meeting, Professor Khoo praised and highlighted the significant progress made by the University of Mostar in the global Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, as well as the increased international visibility of the institution.
The University of Mostar has made notable progress on this prestigious global sustainability benchmark, particularly in Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality, where significant improvement was recorded compared to previous years. This area is one of Professor Khoo’s main areas of expertise, as she is internationally recognized as a researcher and advocate for gender equality in higher education and tourism. Her contribution to global research in this field further enriched the discussion on the strategic positioning of the University in terms of gender equality and inclusiveness.
Alongside Professor Khoo, the meeting was attended by Prof Igor Živko, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Mostar, and Prof Meldina Kokorović Jukan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tuzla. The meeting was chaired by Prof Sanja Bijakšić, Vice-Rector for International Relations, with the participation of Prof Davorka Topić Stipić, Head of the SUM Academy, Inja Stojkić, PhD, Head of the International Relations Office, and Tonina Ibrulj, Head of the Office for International Rankings.
This valuable academic visit represents another step forward in strengthening the international recognition of the University of Mostar and promoting quality in higher education through the exchange of knowledge and experiences with globally recognized experts.
