The Night of Museums, a long-known event in Western European countries, is coming to Mostar organised by the University of Mostar and the Croatian Museum Association. In Croatia, this event is reaching its peak, and on Friday, the Croatian Museum Association will organise the 17th Night of Museums with the occasional theme Museums - between real and digital. It is the first time that Night of Museums has been organised by an academic institution such as the University of Mostar. The event will take place on Friday, 28 January, starting at 5:30 pm at the University Gallery in Rodoč. Marin Ivanović, Head of the University Gallery, is also the Head of the University's participation programme in this year's Night of Museums.

The Night of Museums is traditionally held on the last Friday in January, and this year's programme begins with a Children's Art Workshop organised by the Down Syndrome Association Mostar. In the second part of the evening, the monograph Tomo Gusić will be presented, showing the cooperation between the University of Mostar and the Dubrovnik Art Gallery. The authors of the monograph are Marija Tonković, PhD and professor emeritus Antun Karaman, PhD.

In the third part of the program, we will be able to enjoy the exhibition of academician Igor Rončević. Art critic, Milan Bešlić is to give expert guidance through the exhibition Gold and Silver of Zadar. The evening is due to end at 20:00 with an exhibition of works from the Children's Art Workshop.

"We are extremely proud that for the first time such an event is organised by an institution such as the University of Mostar. The Night of Museums is characterised by rich cultural and entertainment content, and everyone can come and learn something new and soak up the culture of our region. It is important to note that this event will have a great impact on our social and academic community, but also on the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina" said Arnela Sudar, spokeswoman for the Night of Museums event.

The SUM University Gallery has started a series of guest lectures by renowned artists, raising awareness of its role in academia and the wider community. This event will only contribute to its visibility in the circles of culture and art. The event is open until 01:00 for all visitors during all programmes on The Night of Museums 2022.
