The University of Mostar participated in the first Strategic Forum of the EUPeace Alliance, which was held from April 23 to 25, 2025, at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao, Spain. The forum gathered representatives of all partner universities within the alliance with the aim of strengthening strategic planning and cooperation for the next phase of the European Universities initiative.
Representing the University of Mostar were Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Sanja Bijakšić and Assistant Professor Dr. Marin Bago. During the event, they engaged in a series of working sessions that focused on aligning strategic goals, planning joint activities, and further developing academic and administrative cooperation within the alliance.
Special attention was given to the development of joint programs, mobility of students and staff, and the implementation of inclusive and sustainable practices in higher education. The University of Mostar actively contributed to discussions on innovation in teaching, promotion of social justice, and the role of universities in building peaceful and inclusive societies.
The EUPeace Alliance (European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies) is one of the strategic alliances selected by the European Commission under the European Universities initiative. It gathers universities dedicated to fostering peace, democratic values, and equality through education, research, and engagement with society.
Participation in the EUPeace Strategic Forum is part of the broader commitment of the University of Mostar to internationalization and contribution to the creation of a European Education Area, based on cooperation, excellence, and mutual understanding.
