University of Mostar organized the 6th International Staff Mobility Week from 4 to 8 May 2026 through the Office for International Cooperation, bringing together representatives of partner institutions from ten European countries.
During the five-day programme, the University hosted 30 representatives of partner institutions from Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Türkiye, Spain, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Belgium, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This year’s theme of the Mobility Week was “Joint and Double Degree Programmes as a Tool for Internationalisation,” with a special focus on the development of joint study programmes as an important instrument for the internationalisation of higher education.
The programme began with an official opening at the University Television Studio, where participants were welcomed by representatives of the University administration. Prof. Dr. Sanja Bijakšić, Vice-Rector’s Assistant for International Cooperation, highlighted the importance of international collaboration and the role of the University in strengthening academic networks. She emphasized that events such as this provide opportunities to expand partnerships, exchange experiences, and develop new forms of cooperation among higher education institutions.
The work and activities of the University were presented by Dr. Inja Stojkić, Head of the Office for International Cooperation, while representatives of partner institutions introduced their study programmes and international activities, with a special focus on the implementation of the Erasmus+ programme.
The first day concluded with a joint dinner held as part of the humanitarian evening organized by the SUM Foundation in the SUMIT building on the Rodoč campus.
The second day of the programme took place at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy and was dedicated to joint study programmes as a tool for the internationalisation of higher education.
Participants were introduced to the opportunities for developing joint study programmes within the EUPeace alliance, in which the University of Mostar actively participates.
Prof. Dr. Dean Sinković from the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula presented the international joint cross-border doctoral programme in international economic relations conducted within the consortium “Doctorate Paneuropean Studies Joint PhD Programmes.”
Experiences and models of joint study programmes were also presented by Prof. Dr. Maciej Kluz, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at Vizja University in Poland.
Examples of good practice were also presented by the University of Split, specifically its Faculty of Economics, through a presentation by Prof. Dr. Snježana Pivac, Vice-Dean for Teaching and Student Affairs, who discussed the development and implementation of joint study programmes, as well as the challenges and benefits of international cooperation.
Following the presentations, a round-table discussion was held during which participants exchanged experiences, discussed the challenges of implementing international programmes, and shared examples of good practice from their institutions.
The third day was dedicated to the presentation of foreign-language study programmes at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Mostar, visits to teaching facilities at the Dental Clinic, and health examinations for participants conducted by students of the Faculty of Medicine.
Participants were also introduced to the work of the Office for Students with Disabilities and the activities implemented by the University to ensure inclusive and accessible education.
The fourth day was dedicated to exploring the Rodoč campus. The programme began with a tour of the Faculty of Science and Education, followed by a presentation of the activities and work of the Information Technology Centre. Participants then visited the Museum of Modern Art and the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology.
The programme concluded with a creative Art & Wine workshop, which provided participants with an opportunity for informal networking, exchange of experiences, and strengthening international contacts in a relaxed environment.
During the certificate award ceremony, it was emphasized that events such as this represent an important opportunity to promote the University of Mostar, strengthen existing partnerships, and further expand international cooperation in the field of higher education.
