At the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar, lectures were delivered by H.E. Helena Lagerlöf, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, H.E. Kathrine Biering, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, and H.E. Åge Sandal Møller, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through a moderated discussion, topics related to Nordic cooperation, the European Union and multilateralism in the contemporary international context were addressed.
The ambassadors emphasised that Bosnia and Herzegovina has reliable partners in their countries and enjoys long-standing, high-quality cooperation at various levels. Through an open dialogue with students, they expressed their support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Euro-Atlantic path and encouraged young people to engage more actively in the future.
The Ambassador of Denmark, Åge Sandal Møller, spoke about Nordic cooperation as a successful model of regional cooperation based on shared values, a high level of trust and strong institutions. He underlined that the European Union has established mechanisms of assistance for Bosnia and Herzegovina and that, in order for these to be fully utilised, the country should continue its path towards membership of the European Union.
Ambassador of Norway Kathrine Biering addressed the issue of multilateralism, emphasising its key role in preserving peace, stability and democratic values, particularly in a period of global challenges and heightened geopolitical tensions.
Ambassador of Sweden Helena Lagerlöf placed particular emphasis on the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s process of European integration, highlighting the importance of reforms and the strengthening of institutions.
They concluded that regional cooperation, European integration and multilateral approaches are closely interconnected and represent important prerequisites for the long-term stability and development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The event brought together representatives of the academic community, students and the wider public, confirming the importance of open dialogue on European and international issues of strategic significance for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lectures form part of the Tour d’horizon series, which includes lectures and visits by ambassadors to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar.
