The first workshop on developing a communication strategy for the EUPeace Alliance was held in Frankfurt. The two-day workshop brought together representatives from all nine partner universities: the University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the University of Marburg - Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany), the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany), Comillas Pontifical University (Spain), Çukurova Üniversitesi (Turkey), the University of Calabria (Italy), the University of Limoges (France), and the University of West Bohemia (Czech Republic).
The workshop aimed to promote mutual understanding and collaboration among all partner universities and establish a communication strategy for EUPeace in realizing its ultimate mission of contributing to peace, justice, and inclusion in the European university community.
The first day of the workshop focused on presenting plans for establishing the EUPeace Alliance Communication Office, introducing individual communication offices, communication channels, and structures at each partner institution. Special attention was given to a roundtable discussion on the topic: "Lost in Translation?! Challenges of communication, language, and translation issues in European university alliances." The first day also featured presentations by Ernest Exposita (European University UNITA), Doerte Weig (SIRIS Academic), Christine Friesen (German Academic Exchange Service DAAD), and Anne Thorwart (CIVIS Alliance).
On the second day, partner universities were divided into three groups actively developing ideas, discussing, and visualizing the development of EUPeace in the context of the communication strategy. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to build stronger friendships among all partner universities, fostering understanding of diversity and similarities among all stakeholders within the EUPeace alliance. This initiative represents a significant step toward finding a common language for EUPeace to promote peace, cooperation, and sustainability in the European context.
Representing the University of Mostar, the workshop was attended by Marijan Tustonja, Head of the Office for Students with Disabilities, Ana Šuman from the Office of International Cooperation, and Lea Kraljević from the Public Relations Office.
