By decision of the Senate of the University of Mostar, at a ceremony in the University Gallery, Ambassador Noah Gal Gendler was presented with a Charter to the Embassy of the State of Israel in Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina and a Plaque for exceptional contribution to the development and promotion of SUM.
"Receiving such a recognition from the University is more important to me than any other. I am a representative of a small nation that has been a victim throughout history. We have always known that for us evil and a malefactor are always around the corner. We were running away and we found safe place in education," said Ambassador Noah Gal Gendler. He added that all the Nobel prizes won by them as a nation are disproportionate to their population number. "This is precisely the result of that concept, and the concept is investing in education. Universities are the engine that pushes a nation towards it. It is a great honor for us to be a part of that story", he emphasized.
Rector Zoran Tomić pointed out that in this way the University would like to thank them for the exceptional contribution and influence they invested in connecting the University with related universities in the State of Israel. "We have witnessed the fact that after your first visit to SUM, the process of academic understanding between SUM and Azrieli College from Jerusalem and Holon Institute from Tel Aviv was accelerated. On the occasion of our visit to Israel in February of this year, bilateral agreements that we signed opened wide possibilities for academic cooperation and research", added the rector.
He stated that in this way, the door of SUM was opened to the most developed academic institutions in Israel, and thus to the world. "We have to see that perspective and put it in the context of your selfless commitment to cooperation. By encouraging cooperation, you, Mr. Ambassador, have shown in the best way how science and education can be a function of the development of our society, but also of the whole world. You have shown us the way of cooperation as the best way to change the world and create new perspectives of development", said the rector.
He also emphasized that they were brought together by nobility and the desire to influence the development processes of society together. "And when it comes to society, we in Bosnia and Herzegovina dream of the values that the State of Israel has used to ennoble the whole world and influence its development. You are our role models in many ways. Today, we are glad to say that our role models are our friends. Mr. Ambassador, I believe that this is just the beginning of our successful cooperation", said Rector Tomić.
At the end, he pointed to a great example of cooperation between the State of Israel and Bosnia and Herzegovina, more specifically Mostar. "Mr. Amir Gross Kabiri, a businessman and visionary, has already strongly marked the perspective and possibilities, but also our friendship. It is a great example of how the State of Israel can connect with us here in Mostar and how we can be mutually successful and happy. Ler that happiness continue to be what binds us forever," concluded Zoran Tomić, rector of the University of Mostar.
