Charles University in Prague is the oldest and largest university in the Czech Republic, founded in 1348 during the reign of the Czech King and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Charles IV.
Besides being the oldest university in Central Europe, it is also the best ranked Czech university according to international rankings. It consists of 17 faculties (14 in Prague, two in Hradec Králové and one in Plzeň), three institutes and six centres for learning, research and development.
Charles University has almost 50,000 students, roughly one-sixth of all students in the Czech Republic, enrolled in more than 300 accredited study programmes offering more than 630 different courses. The university also has more than 7,000 students from other countries.
The signed Agreement refers to academic cooperation in the exchange of teaching staff and students, joint participation in scientific conferences and symposia, work on joint projects, and exchange of experience on important academic issues.
