Organized by the University of Tuzla, the Balkan Universities Association Conference on the topic "Academic Cooperation, Challenge and Future Perspectives in the Balkans" was held from September 27 to 28, 2023. The University of Mostar was represented by the Vice-Rector for Biomedicine, Prof. Dr. Milenko Bevanda.

At the end of the first day of the BUA 2023 Conference, the seventh General Assembly of the Balkan Universities Association was held. The topics discussed during the General Assembly meeting of the Balkan Universities Association (BUA) included the introduction of new candidate members, the signing of accession agreements for members accepted into the network at last year's General Assembly meeting, the official presentation of recognition to the Chair of BUA 2023, Prof. Dr. Nermina Hadžigrahić, the Rector of the University of Tuzla, and the appointment of Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha, the Rector of the University of Tirana, as the Chair of BUA 2024.

The Balkan University Network, also known as the Balkan Universities Association (BUA), is a network of universities in Southeastern Europe with over 87 members. The University of Mostar became a member of this network in 2022.
