World's Universities with Real Impact (WURI), the world ranking of universities, published a new ranking according to which the University of Mostar took 32nd place in the "Fourth Industrial Revolution" category. In the overall ranking, it was positioned between 101-200 place, which is a historic success for the University on the ranking scales and confirmation of the efforts invested in the development and visibility of the University not only in the European educational area but also worldwide. Harvard University, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Minerva University, Princeton University, major world universities with centuries-old traditions, lead this ranking list, which indicates the real contribution of universities to society and highlights creative and innovative approaches to university research and education.

The University of Mostar is the only university from Bosnia and Herzegovina on WURI ranking list. Another university from the region included in the WURI ranking list is the University of Split. Universities are ranked into six categories: industrial application, entrepreneurial spirit, social responsibility, ethics and integrity, student mobility, crisis management, and the fourth industrial revolution.

The WURI ranking has proven its different approach by including some lesser-known world universities whose efforts and results focused on innovative solutions to social challenges in their environment have been recognized. In the range of 101-200 places besides SUM are the University of Split, the University of Basel, the University of Antwerp, the University of Padua, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Toronto.

Unlike traditional rankings that rely on quantitative university data and statistics, the WURI rankings gather information about innovative programs in two different ways. The first is through submitting applications from the universities themselves in the categories to which they apply with their programs, and the second is collecting data using the Text-Information Analysis (TIA) method. Representatives of the universities that participated in the rankings, university leagues, media related to higher education and members of the WURI evaluation committee participate in the program evaluation. WURI is completely non-profit, so there are no fees or costs associated with this application and evaluation process.
